Last Wednesday, Wallace Group Senior Geotechnical Engineer Lisa Splitter delivered a guest lecture to students in the Civil Engineering Department at Oregon Institute of Technology as part of the school’s Industry Seminar Series. Her presentation, “Geotechnical Challenges in Central Oregon and Their Impact on Shallow and Deep Foundation and Retaining Wall Design,” examined the complex subsurface conditions found throughout the region.
Through case studies involving a new school, a fire station, and a commercial development, she highlighted the diverse challenges encountered and the engineering strategies used to address them. Lisa enjoyed engaging with the enthusiastic
engineering students and sharing her practical geotechnical engineering insights gained from years of industry experience.
